About the Position
The Latner Thoracic Research Laboratories are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Postdoctoral Fellow to join the Tissue Repair and Regeneration Labs, an internationally recognized program focused on advancing innovative approaches in thoracic tissue engineering, transplantation science, and regenerative medicine.
The Postdoctoral Fellow conducts independent and collaborative research under the supervision of the principal investigator. This role focuses on advancing original research objectives, developing technical expertise, and contributing to grant writing, publications, and mentorship of junior trainees.
Key Responsibilities
Design and execute advanced research experiments and analyses focused on tissue repair and regeneration, with an emphasis on lung disease and airway repair
Apply advanced in vitro and in vivo experimental models to study airway regeneration, environmental effects on cell behavior, and regenerative mechanisms
Mentor and support students within the laboratory
Analyze data, prepare scientific manuscripts, contribute to grant applications, and present findings at lab meetings and conferences
Maintain rigorous documentation and ensure compliance with institutional, ethical, and biosafety standards.
Required Qualifications
PhD or equivalent doctoral degree in a relevant discipline (Biomedical Engineering, Cell Biology, Regenerative Medicine, Lung Biology)
Demonstrated research productivity and technical expertise
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
Strong interest in translational research.
Preferred Qualifications
Hands-on experience with small (mouse, rat) and large animal (swine) surgical models, including perioperative management and post-procedural monitoring.
Proficiency in advanced laboratory techniques, such as:
Tissue decellularization and perfusion systems
Organ procurement and ex vivo preparation
Imaging-guided procedures (endoscopy, ultrasound, fluoroscopy)
Molecular and cellular techniques (cell culture, differentiation assays, flow cytometry, etc.)
Demonstrated research experience in stem cell biology, tissue engineering, and/or regenerative medicine.
Strong organizational, communication, and analytical skills.
